The frequencies are set out in the Australian Standard AS1851-2012; tolerances apply to the frequency service intervals set out for each required service.
Tolerances are applied to the date of the initial activity, for example:
If a yearly service was first conducted in October 2018, this determines the tolerances period for the ‘Yearly’ service from August to December.
A service can be brought forward to change the schedule, but it can not be extended. The service due in October 2019 was carried out in November 2019, November will not be the new service date 2020, the service date is still October 202
A service activity that is conducted outside of the tolerance period; for that activity has to be recorded as an out of tolerance activity for that year and will be included in the Annual Condition Report.
To change the scheduled date a service can be brought forward by agreement of the responsible entity and the service provider, for example:
The initial scheduled service date is the 17th of the month. The agreed new scheduled date is the 4th of the month (outside tolerance limits).
By agreement, the date may be brought forward by performing the test due on the 17th of the month and again on the 4th of the next month. This may necessitate an additional test. The new scheduled date would now be the 4th of the month, the date that will consequently be used for tolerance purposes.
