Asset Register – Smoke Alarms

A smoke alarm asset register should be completed at the commissioning stage to confirm the sound intensity is adequate and that the device functions correctly; including any interconnect smoke alarms/heat or emergency lighting systems as required in certain buildings.

It will also confirm that the installation is in requirements with Qld legislation and Australian Standard AS1670.6.

The asset register should include details such as:

  • Asset Id
  • Location
  • Serial Number
  • Date of Manufacture
  • Type of Alarm
  • Interconnected: Yes/No
  • Sound Level at 1 m

An asset register can be established during the routine maintenance process, the cost should not out way the benefits.

*Not applicable to 9 volt smoke alarms.
